So on Sunday, I did a London Marathon -but a rather different affair to the 30,000 or so people who do The London Marathon, this one had less than a hundred entrant, was a mile or so longer, and a lot, lot hillier!
Put it this way, I did it in 4h 50 mins – nearly 45 mins outside my Marathon PB – and still finished in the top half in an event that was mostly club runners (a fair proportion of the field were members of the hundred marathon club)
Rather than do a race report, I thought I might do a short video. Unfortunately, I was too busy running up those hills to film some of the really scenic bits, so my apologies to the Race director for not really capturing what a lovely course it is!
It’s a great little marathon, a lot of fun and fantastic marshalling and support by the organisers, New Eltham Joggers.
So here we go: The Green Chain Marathon, as experienced by moi.
Thanks Hopi, really enjoyed watching that. I know most of the places from training runs and it looks like a great marathon, will have to give it a go.
It’s a great little marathon- and the rest of the course is more scenic than the bits I filmed. Bargain too – was £15 this year, which when you consider the extortionate cost of things like run to the Beat, is ridiculously cheap.
